Students may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. Reminder: Pledge sheets need to be turned in January 28-31 before school or during lunch.
Pledges may be made by anyone. However, participants may not ask for pledges from any staff members of WLMS. Additional pledge forms are available on our website, www.WellingtonLandingsPTO.com or in Student Services. Our goal is to have each participant collect a minimum of $35 in pledges!
Each sponsor making a donation should write their own name and amount of pledge per lap or flat fee amount on the pledge form. Also write the sponsor phone number and your student name on their check. Pledge form are returned to students at the end of the event with the number of laps completed written on the pledge form.
When students turn in their pledge forms Jan. 28-31, they will be issued a wristband. Students must wear this wristband the morning of Walk-A-Thon to allow them to leave class and walk in the event. There is a $10 minimum pledge for students to participate in the Walk-A-Thon.
On Walk-A-Thon day, each grade walks during a specified time period on a marked course around the school. Each participant is issued a lap card, which are marked by volunteers to track the number of laps completed.
No running or jogging is allowed. Arrangements will be made for the students to walk on a covered path in the event of rain.
Upon completion of the Walk-A-Thon, students hand in their lap cards. A volunteer records each student’s completed lap total on their pledge form and returns it to the student in an envelope. Students must then collect outstanding pledges. Make payments using schoolcashonline.com or via checks payable to WLMS (please include sponsor phone number & student name on the check). All contributions are tax-deductible. If you use schoolcashonline.com for your entire pledge payment, remember to turn in the pledge form at Student Services. Please return pledge sheets and all final payments by February 11th.
Prizes are awarded based on paid pledge donations. If you want your pledges to be included for a prize, you must turn in all payments by Feb. 11th. Tallies will be calculated, and prizes awarded based on paid pledges turned in by Feb. 11th, so be sure to turn in your pledges ON TIME! Prizes will be distributed in February.
